The Maine London, also known as ‘The MAINE Mayfair’ is one of Mayfair’s most unique restaurants. Not only that, but the restaurant is one of those perfectly located next to Mayfair’s hottest club and celebrity hotspot, Tape London.
The concept is New England cuisine, but we’re not talking about modern New England. The Maine takes its clientele back in time to the old world. Set inside a historical townhouse on Hanover Square, this elegant Mayfair restaurant presents a truly elegant dining experience, combining aesthetics from Britain in the 1900s and Georgian-style houses.
Here’s everything you need to know about The Maine London: menu, reservations, atmosphere, and more.
The Atmosphere
The best word to describe The Maine London’s atmosphere is opulence - picture the dining room in James Cameron’s Titanic.
The restaurant is divided into two main floors. The top floor contains Maine London’s drawing room and terrace. On the outside, a cosy, peaceful, and refreshing British garden setting. On the inside, a grand, golden-lit bar overlooks an all-white Georgian-style drawing room
Meanwhile, the lower floor features a subterranean brasserie - notorious for its huge chandelier - and an intimate speakeasy with exposed brick ceilings. With an atmosphere that’s equal parts decadence and elegance, the Maine’s brasserie promises live jazz and burlesque performances to take your night to a whole different level.
The Maine London Menu
The Maine London menu is full of mouth-watering dishes, but there are a few must-tries that you simply can’t stray from.
First off, the restaurant is primarily famous for their steak, octopus, and oysters. If you intend to go, then you’ve got to try at least one. We’d also suggest you try their crab salad and the steak or tuna tartare.
For dessert - which you have to leave room for - The Maine offers a comprehensive dessert menu with suggested wine pairings - the perfect ending to a perfect meal.
The Maine London also offers a brunch menu, an afternoon nibbles menu, and special seasonal menus.
Entertainment
In The Maine London’s brasserie, the tables are arranged carefully to overlook the stage where the restaurant regularly brings in live jazz performers, quartets, and burlesque dancers.
The Maine London Reservations
The Maine London reservations are a must if you’d like to enjoy a meal at the restaurant. Due to the high demand, and The Maine being one of Mayfair’s exclusive venues, it’s the only way to get a table.
The Maine London Dress Code
The Maine London dress code is smart elegant. For ladies, this means high heels and dresses - at least to stay on the safe side. For gentlemen, collared shirts and smart trousers and shoes are the way to go.
Needless to say, logo shirts, denim, trainers, beachwear, and sportswear are not allowed.
The Maine London Location
The Maine London is located on Hanover Square at 6, Medici Courtyard. Not only is it extremely close to Oxford St. and Bond St. subway stations, but that location also makes The Maine the ultimate pre-clubbing location.
With Tape London, the exclusive Mayfair club and celebrity hotspot close enough to be next door at 17 Hanover Square, partying all night is just a matter of making the decision. That and, you’ve got to get on the Tape London guestlist or make a table booking - both of which we can help you with in a matter of minutes.
